Speak Your Mind

With SpeakEasy, you can easily create quick reminders for things you might otherwise forget. If you are like us and shiny things distract you you may lose your train of thought for a moment. No worries, simply pause your recording at any time and pick back up whenever you are ready.

If you are pressed for time, simply launch SpeakEasy and touch the microphone to begin recording. When finished, press the iPhone’s home button to exit; SpeakEasy will quickly give your recording a title and save it, reminding you that a new recording is in your library with a badge on the home screen icon.

Recording Life... Uninterrupted

SpeakEasy’s “interruption protection” will automatically allow you to continue a recording even if you get interrupted by a phone call. Say you are recording an interview and you get a call that just can’t wait. Feel free to take the call. When you come back, SpeakEasy will automatically prompt you asking if you would like to continue where you left off. The result will be your entire interview in one recording, just as if you had never been interrupted.

Picture This

Making an important recording even more memorable is a snap with SpeakEasy’s picture attachment feature. Take a picture to go along with your recording, or just choose one from your photo library. Imagine capturing the smile on baby’s face as she speaks her first words! The possibilities are endless...

Recording

  •A built in decibel meter gives instant audio input feedback while recording to let you know how well your audio is being picked up by the iPhone’s microphone.
  •Quickly pause your recording with a single touch if you need a short break or are interrupted; easily continue when you are ready.
  •No need to worry if your recording gets interrupted by a phone call. Take the call. When you come back, SpeakEasy will allow you to immediately pick up where you left off (great for recording meetings).
  •Create a recording on the go. If you need to create a reminder in a hurry, simply launch SpeakEasy and touch the microphone to start recording. When finished, press the iPhone’s home button to exit. SpeakEasy will quickly give your recording a default name and save it, reminding you that a new recording is in your library with a badge on the home screen icon.

Playback

  •Playback slider control lets you quickly scan a recording to find the specific audio you are looking for.
  •View photos you have saved with your recordings while listening to them (great for reminders).
  •Simply touch the thumbnail view of your picture on the playback screen to smoothly enlarge the image.
  •As playback of your recording finishes, SpeakEasy will automatically continue playing the next recording in your list (a great way to listen to your entire To Do list).
  •Accidentally put a recording of yourself singing along with the radio into your “Shopping List” category? You can easily edit recording attributes such as Category at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my recordings off of my phone?

The current version of SpeakEasy does not include the ability to email, or transfer your recordings to another computer. However, the Zarboo developers are hard at work on the next update, featuring SpeakEasy Connect. SpeakEasy Connect is a new feature that will give you the ability to easily transfer your recordings from your phone.

How do I change the settings?

SpeakEasy settings are located in the main settings area of the phone. Simply open the iPhone settings and you will find the SpeakEasy icon.

Can I record phone conversations or voicemail?

Apple does not allow for any application sold on the iTunes store to incorporate the ability to record phone conversations.

How do I pause a recording?

While you are recording, simply tap the pause button on the bottom left hand side. You can come back to your recording at a later time.

What sample rates does SpeakEasy record in?

Low Quality - 8000Hz
Fair Quality - 11025Hz
Good Quality - 22050Hz
Better Quality - 32000Hz
Best Quality - 44100Hz

How do I edit my categories?

You can edit or add categories by pressing the Edit button on the top right of the Categories screen.

Are there any time limits to my recordings?

SpeakEasy imposes no limit on recording length.

Will SpeakEasy work with my iPod Touch?

Currently SpeakEasy is only supported on the iPhone.

Everytime I launch SpeakEasy, I see the green microphone icon then it crashes immediately. What should I do?

Sometimes when installing or updating applications from iTunes, the account authorization is lost. Please refer to this Apple support document describing how to resolve the issue.
